All measurements published by SilencerScout are collected in a controlled test environment using a fixed instrumentation setup, fixed microphone placement, and specified ammunition, host firearm, and environmental conditions. These conditions are chosen for repeatability and for valid comparison between products tested under the same protocol. They are not intended to represent, and do not represent, the sound exposure any individual will experience.

Real-world sound exposure varies with factors including but not limited to firearm configuration, barrel length, ammunition lot and load, suppressor condition and mounting, shooter position, shooting position and stance, indoor versus outdoor environment, reflective surfaces, weather, altitude, temperature, humidity, round count, rate of fire, and the presence of other shooters. Individual hearing sensitivity, prior hearing loss, and the fit and condition of hearing protection also vary. For these reasons, Silencer Scout makes no guarantee, representation, or warranty that any published measurement will translate to any other firearm, environment, or shooter.

SilencerScout does not publish noise dose values, permissible exposure limits, allowable round counts, or any other figure intended to describe how much shooting is safe. Silencer Scout expressly prohibits the use of its data, in whole or in part, to calculate, model, estimate, or infer safe exposure levels, hearing damage risk, or noise dose for any person. Any such use is outside the intended purpose of this data, is done entirely at the user's own risk, and is not endorsed by SilencerScout.

No suppressor makes a firearm safe to shoot without hearing protection. Suppressors reduce sound pressure; they do not eliminate the risk of permanent noise-induced hearing loss. Always use appropriate hearing protection.
