The M90 Close Assault Weapon System is a semi-automatic, pump-assist 8-gauge shotgun designed for extreme close-quarters lethality. Firing 8-gauge magnum buckshot through a smoothbore barrel, the M90 produces a terminal wound channel that outperforms most rifle rounds within twenty meters. The action is gas-assisted on the return stroke, which gives it a faster follow-up cadence than a conventional pump. Suppressor options for 8-gauge platforms are limited by bore diameter and port pressure, but dedicated integrally suppressed barrels have been fielded in boarding actions where noise discipline is operationally critical.
