Firearm Platform
BR55 Battle Rifle
The BR55 Heavy Barrel Service Rifle is the UNSC's primary designated marksman platform, firing 9.5×40mm ammunition in three-round burst mode from a 36-round magazine. Introduced to address the engagement-range gap between the MA5B and the SRS99, the BR55 became the defining shoulder arm of the Human-Covenant War. Its free-floated heavy barrel and integrated 2× smart-link optic make it a natural suppressor host at extended ranges. Operators running a suppressor on the BR55 typically note a modest reduction in felt recoil per burst and a cleaner sight picture between shots due to reduced muzzle blast.
